Watching a video with the kids is so passé these days, but reading to a child is a uniquely fulfilling experience, and this is a great book to read! Its size make it a nice book to read to smaller children as the pictures are large and the type is a pleasant serif typeface. It can even be a primer for young, budding readers. While the story in this book is obviously abridged, it does contain pictures and dialog of Biggs and Luke on Tatooine, where Biggs informs Luke of his decision to seek out and join the Rebellion. This scene, though filmed - and later referenced by Luke, was not in the movie.
About the book:
> Softcover, 1978, Scholastic Book Services, 1st Printing
> Pages are in very good shape, with no creases, tears, or markings
> Front cover:
>> shows light creases on top corner and some abrasion wear at spine
>> what appears to be a grease spot on the lower corner area - but NO spotting on the book pages
> Back cover has creasing in upper corner and down the spine
I included what I think is an interesting bit of trivia in a photo from the 'main characters' page of the book: the Death Star. A careful observer will note the the Death Star's 'main gun' is centered on the 'equator' of the station, whereas in the movie it was in the 'upper' hemisphere.
